SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The leaders of the Springfield Boys and Girls Club and the New North Citizens’ Council will receive some special recognition this spring.

The Springfield Women’s Commission will honor Sarah Tsitso and Maria Ligus on May 7 as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

Tsitso of the Boys and Girls Club says that the Women’s Commission’s mission resonates with her. “It’s really special to be honored by an organization like this. Eomen’s causes are near and dear to my heart,” Tsitso said.

Ligus, of the New North Citizens’ Council said that she too, feels honored. “My mission has always been to serve the people with quality programming, not only in the North End, but the entire city of Springfield,” Ligus said.

The 17th Annual International Women’s Day Celebration will be held May 7 at the Barney Carriage House in Springfield.
