The Teen Job Ready Program is in its 4th year at the Springfield Boys and Girls Club. Participants will be required to volunteer 15 hours a week. Three hours of that time will be participating and completing the Boys and Girls Club of America Money Matters Program(Financial Literacy), Career Launch Program(Job Readiness), and UPS Road Ready Program. In return for their participation participants will receive a $50.00 stipend per week. This is provided that they complete all requirements. (Pay period is every 2 weeks $100.00)
The Job Ready Program is a co-ed program for youth between the ages of 13 and 15 , Must be 13 before they can enter the program. It is an application and interview-based process; Applicants must demonstrate maturity and be able to represent themselves in the same manner that we require our staff and campers to conduct themselves.
We hope that the application and interview process will help provide you with skills for the next step, i.e., college applications and ‘real world’ job interviews. It is our goal to mold strong leaders who understand that dedication and hard work will lead them to better outcomes when in the community.
The 8 week Job Ready Program is designed to teach leadership, basic job skills, career readiness skills, Financial literacy Skills, and team building in regards to work with youth between the ages of 6 and 12, The Job Ready Program works to develop and encourage leadership, problem solving, responsibility and independence which is essential in our staff’s futures, both at Springfield Boys and Girls Club Camp and life at home.
Prospective participants must fill out an application packet and return it to the Springfield Boys and Girls Club. Applications will be taken until all positions are filled and are available at the Membership desk. Some of the volunteer opportunities include Locker Room Attendants, Membership Helpers, Hallway/Bathroom Monitors, and Program Assistants.
