SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – When an air conditioning unit hasn’t been replaced since 1967, it may be time for an upgrade. That’s how the federal government feels about the air conditioner in one of the Springfield Boys and Girls Club’s gyms.
The federal grants will pay for a new air conditioner to replace the one that originally came with the building in 1967. Executive Director Sarah Tisitso told 22News “It’ll be much quieter. The biggest issue with the machine right now, not only is it not energy efficient, it’s really loud.”
The new air conditioning unit will compliment a recent renovation of the gym. The current air conditioner reportedly makes so much noise that during performances in the gym, the audience the boys and girls performing on the stage.
