SPRINGFIELD — While driving or walking down Main Street Tuesday, a group of young women could be see laughing as they danced to a song by Sean Paul. Occasionally, one would yell, “Springfield Boys & Girls Club,” and take a break from dancing to hand out a flyer.
The girls are members of the city club and highlighted the programs the organization hosts during the school year.
The Springfield Boys & Girls Club offers an after school program for children between six and 12 years old and a separate group for teens 13 to 18 years old.
Children can drop in between 3 and 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Teens can stop by between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
The younger after school program costs $10 a week for the school year and teens are asked to pay an extra $5.
The Boys & Girls Club also offers after school child care on weekdays and after school tutoring. The organization has two locations in the city: 481 Carew St. and 95 Milton St., in Indian Orchard.
