In 2014, the Inaugural Reach for the Stars & Alumni Hall of Fame Induction was a milestone in the history of the Springfield Boys & Girls Club. Celebrating 124 years of unwavering dedication to youth services, the Springfield Boys & Girls Club inducted five outstanding alumni into the first-ever Alumni Hall of Fame class: Joseph Federico, Charles Hollins, Arthur Jones, Garrett McCarthy, Mark Moran and Peter > Picknelly.
The Springfield Boys & Girls Club is now accepting nominations for the second Alumni Hall of Fame class. All Club alumni and former staff are eligible for nomination. Inductees will be chosen based on their personal and professional successes, with a special emphasis on community engagement. Do you know a Club alum who deserves to be recognized for their accomplishments? Contact Conor Bevan at email@example.com or 413-785-5266.
The chosen alumni will be recognized at the 2nd Annual Reach for the Stars Luncheon & Alumni Hall of Fame Induction, which will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Springfield Sheraton from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event will include a luncheon followed by the Hall of Fame Induction and a private viewing of the 15th Annual Festival of Trees. All proceeds from the event benefit the Springfield Boys & Girls Club’s Saturday Drop-In Programs.
The Springfield Boys & Girls Club is one of the only youth service agencies in the City of Springfield that stays open on Saturdays. In 2014, the Carew Street facility served over 800 youth on Saturdays during the academic year. These children come from every geographical region within the City of Springfield, including Liberty Heights, Memorial Square, South End, Old Hill/Six Corners, North End, Indian Orchard, and Forest Park. The Saturday programs operate from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and serve children ages 6 – 18. For over 100 children each Saturday during the school year, the Club is their second home.
